You Won’t Believe How Old This Tree Is

This amaaaaaaazing Wisteria “tree” in Japan is 144 years old! While it actually is not the largest in the world, it’s still a magnificent sight to see at 1,990sq feet. As you can see from the photos below, the vines have become so large, they must be supported by steel beams, keeping the vines at an even height for visitors to wander underneath this amazing natural artwork. Wisteria, though in cases such as this they certainly resemble trees, are actually vines. When pruned diligently and correctly, wisteria will stand upright to look like a tree.
