Today’s Ingredient: Honorable Mentions!

Peony, dahlia, king protea, astilbe, limonium, cosmos, bay leaves, pennycress, geranium leaves, lambs ear, dusty miller, spray roses, veronica, pepper berry, roses, sword fern, air plants, clematis, hydrangea, poppy, anemone, and echeveria just to name a few. The possibilities are endless!

Visit our “The Future is Unstructured” Pinterest board to find gorgeous examples of ALL these amazing Honorable Mentions as well as ALL of the ingredients we mentioned over the last week! If you missed any of our fantastic ingredients, you can find them here: Silver Dollar EucalyptusGarden RosesRanunculus,  Jasmine Vine, and Queen Anne’s Lace!

Design Tips:

The key to finishing off these designs is in the way you wrap the stems; gone are the days where you would pile on the rhinestones atop pristine double face satin ribbon. Imperfections in the way the ribbon lays will add to the romantic homemade feel of an unstructured bouquet. And don’t forget, bows with over exaggerated tails are making their way back into the wedding circuit again; don’t settle for just one color ribbon either, accent with ribbons and tails of varying widths and lengths in a mirage of complimenting colors. When it comes to embellishments, throw aside the rhinestones and opt for an update of the classics, pearls and vintage lace add an old world charm to any bouquet.

Tip: A bride can use vintage lace from her mother or grandmother as her something old. Don’t be afraid to step out of the box with this trend, experimenting with texture, color, and shape are what makes this trend so much fun. On a slow day try playing with the idea of unstructured design, who knows you might stumble upon your next big seller.
